We Held a Seminar for Steering Committee Members to Learn About LAN Cables

This is Yoshiaki Suyama. We recently held a seminar for our steering committee members to learn the fundamentals of LAN cables and to get hands-on experience with cable termination.

Since around 2023, our organization has increasingly welcomed students as steering committee members. Among them, quite a few have never actually made a LAN cable before. Since operating our NOC / POP frequently calls for LAN cables*, we set up an opportunity for the steering committee members to learn the basics of LAN cables and how to terminate them.
* The LAN cables used in newly built NOCs/POPs are standardized to Nippon Seisen’s Cat.6 slim solid-core cable.

Seminar Content

  1. Classroom session
We learned basic knowledge such as the types, standards, and applications of LAN cables.
  2. Hands-on session
Each participant terminated the following types of LAN cables themselves and checked their quality with a tester.
    • Cat.6A

  - Cat.6 slim

This seminar was held using Nippon Seisen Co., Ltd.’s dedicated program, the “Cat.6A施工認定 プライベートセミナー*.” The instructor kindly guided us thoroughly, from the fundamentals to hands-on termination practice, making it a truly valuable opportunity for the steering committee members who took part. Thank you very much.

Along with this, we are also preparing LAN cables made by Nippon Seisen printed with the HOMENOC lettering. Going forward, we are considering handing them out as giveaways at some event or holding a hands-on termination workshop. We will announce the details on social media and elsewhere once they are decided.
