Membership Types and How to Join

Regular member

  • What is Regular Member?

As a legal member of the general incorporated association, you have the right to vote at general meetings, develop the association’s activity policy and budget, and manage the general incorporated association. It can also operate the AS59105 backbone network.

※ A general incorporated association is a form of non-profit corporation in Japan. ※ The members of a general incorporated association are different from “employees” of a joint-stock corporation.

  • How to become a regular member

We are not accepting applications for Regular membership. A person who is recommended by a regular member or a research network member may be admitted as a regular member upon approval by the Director.If you have someone you would like to nominate, please contact a regular member.

Research network member

  • What is a Research Network Member?

An individual or organization that agrees with our activities and uses the Internet connection and facilities we provide. You can use the Internet resources we have (global addresses, BGP full routes, servers, etc.). IP transit can be provided if you have a global AS number or PI address. You do not have the right to vote in the General Assembly. In addition, it cannot operate the backbone network of AS59105.

Private peering and IX peering only are not included in the research network membership.

  • How to Become a Research Network Member

You can join by submitting an application to use the Research Network. Please visit https://www.homenoc.ad.jp/usage/ and apply through Service Online. If for some reason Service Online is not available, please send an email to support[at]homenoc.ad.jp.

Community Members

  • What is a community member?

An individual or organization that does not use our internet connection or facilities, but agrees with our activities and uses our Slack channel to share information, discuss issues, etc. You do not have the right to vote in the General Assembly. In addition, it cannot operate the backbone network of AS59105.

  • How to Join Community Membership

You can join by visiting the following page and joining the HOMENOC Community Slack, which requires only an email address and no personal information.

Corporate Member

  • What is a Corporate Member?

Corporate members who support our activities. You do not have the right to vote in the General Assembly. In addition, it cannot operate the backbone network of AS59105.

  • Advantages of Corporate Membership

1.Support students and young engineers in the technical community.
2.As a sponsor, we will place your company logo on our website (https://www.homenoc.ad.jp/).
3.If you provide us with equipments and services, we will operate them on the backbone of our organization and report the test results.

Membership fee

Our network is operated in the style that each regular member prepares (brings) necessary equipment and lines at home, but the cost of maintaining IP addresses and AS numbers, as well as the cost of maintaining external connection points outside of the regular member’s home, costs about 300,000-400,000 yen per year in addition to their own home. In order to continue our activities in the future, we ask our regular members, research network members, and corporate members to contribute a portion of the operating costs.

※1 There is no membership fee for student members (both regular members and research network members).
